ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH ISSUE GROUP

The European ECO Forum's Environment & Health Issue Group was established in 1997. Sascha is a Director of Women in Europe for a Common Future (WECF), a network of 80 environmental and women's organisations in 37 European and EECCA countries.

The group develops position documents and sends delegates to important meetings. This can be the coordinator or an expert from the issue group when a specific issue (e.g. lead and children's health, breastcancer or children's health and transport) is addressed. TOWARDS THE FIFTH "ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH" MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE (PARMA 2010)

The Fifth Ministerial Conference “Environment and Health” will take place in Parma, Italy, in late February - early March 2010. It will focus on children’s environmental health as well as new emerging issues, in particular the climate change. The European ECO Forum coordinates the preparatory activities of environmental NGOs. These preparatory activities focus on:

-Strengthening the text of the ministerial declaration (in particular, agreeing on targets for each regional prioroty goal of the CEHAPE) and of other possible outcomes;

-Ensuring that new issues (endocrine disruptors, chemicals cocktail) are on the agenda of the conference;

-Contributing to the drafting Group on Guidelines on Water Supply and Sanitation in Extreme Weather Events;

-Strengthening the NIS/SEE focus of the process;

-Facilitating meaningful and effective NGO participation in the conference.
